Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born 12 November 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onesti] Romania). She was first to be the first athlete to get a perfect 10 in an Olympic event. Bela Karalyi was introduced to Comaneci when she was six. She later became Romania's gymnastics instructor. Comaneci participated for the first time at the national junior championships, placing 13th. After that she took home the title of champion. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she won three gold medals and in 1973 and 1974 she was an all-around junior champion. In her first international competition with a senior team in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. In 1976, she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and became the first woman ever to remove the parallel bars using the double backward salto. Her career in the entertainment industry began during her teens when she started dancing as a figure skater along with her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol was a part of the entertainment business in her teens. She began her career as figure skater performing with her younger sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show that were known as Ice Capades. They featured ice-skating shows that featured theatrical shows.
